CHOOSING THE BEST MEASURES FOR YOUR EVALUATION July 29, 2010

The Center for Research and Evaluation on Abstinence Education hosted a webinar entitled, "Choosing the Best Measures for your Program Evaluation" on Thursday, July 29, from 2:00 - 3:30pm (Eastern Daylight Time).

The Center in July released a guide that provides a menu of options for measuring key risk and protective factors, as well as outcomes expected, from AE and other youth risky behavior programs. Co-author Dr. Sharon McGroder reviewed and discussed the content of this guide, which also advises on how to identify quality measures as well as choose the most appropriate measures for your evaluation.

How to Assess Your AE Program for a Range of Positive Social Outcomes July 1, 2010

This webinar featured case studies from two CBAE programs. Staff of the Rites of Passage Abstinence Education Program in Ohio believes that program participants are having fewer encounters with the juvenile justice system. Staff at Better Family Life Abstinence Education Program in St. Louis would like to examine whether students in their program have higher school attendance rates than those who do not participate. Dr. Allison Hyra, evaluation expert, discussed how to test both hypotheses, including the type of information that would need to be collected, best methods for collecting it, how to analyze the data, and other important guidance.
